Big Volume Weekend 6/6

For those of us who are missing out on the Triple T (or in my case wimped out) I am planning a big volume weekend June 6th - June 8th. This is the weekend before our Multisport Camp.  I am planning on riding from Glencoe to Madison on Friday June 6th (approximately 135 miles) then on Saturday we would compete in the http://www.capitolviewtriathlon.com/. It’s an olympic distance triathlon. After the race we will ride to Lake Geneva (approximately 75 miles) then get driven back to Glencoe. On Sunday we run the North Shore 1/2 Marathon in Highland Park.

If you are interested in joining us (so far Joel M. and Paul T. are in) let me know so we can figure out the logistics of getting our gear to Madison and getting rides from Lake Geneva on Saturday.  I will buy the first Guinness Friday night for all those who join us.

Steven Janowiak: Biking event

May 17, 2008
7:00 amto11:00 am

Steve Janowiak is planning the following event this weekend:

I know some of you are doing the Barrington 500 this weekend on Sunday but this is a good bike volume weekend for those getting close to IMCdA, as well as those doing Lake Placid, Canada, Louisville, and Wisconsin.

A few of us plan to do 4 hrs this weekend and others doing a little less. We’ll do the Barrington Hills loop and we’ll most likely do 2-3 loops (22 mile loop), so those who will like to do less can do fewer loops.

The route we’ll follow is here: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=1769733

Start Place: Parking Lot at Presidential Park in Algonquin
When: Saturday, May 17, 2008
What Time: 7:00am

Passports, Please!

We reminded everyone at the dinner last night, but I wanted to remind everyone else to double check your passports now.  You will need your passport to travel to Canada this summer, and it would be best to do any renewals as soon as possible as the wait time for passport processing has been a problem for others lately.

Equestrian Connection Challenge This Sunday

There is a race at Independence Grove this Sunday which supports the Equestrian Connection. There is a 5 mile, 1/2 marathon and full marathon course. It is run on the Des Plaines River Trail so the good news is,  it’s run on the soft trail.  The bad news is, I can’t guarantee there won’t be issues due to the recent flooding in the area. It’s a fun race and a few of us have already signed up.

Independence Grove is on Route 137 just west of St. Mary’s in Libertyville. The race starts at 7 30am. A few of us may also ride our bikes from Glencoe if anyone wants to join us. It’s about 25 miles each way. The post race area usually has homemade chocolate chip cookies and hamburgers.
