I was thinking about ways to stay busy while tapering, when the day that I no longer have to spend more time on my bike than I do sleeping comes, and I have a very short list. I’m wondering if anyone can help me fill my days.
Requirements: it has to be on-topic (I like to stay focused.)
Movies:
Canadian Bacon http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0109370/
(The U.S. President, low in the opinion polls, gets talked into raising his popularity by trying to start a cold war against Canada)
South Park the movie http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0158983/
When the four boys see an R-rated movie featuring Canadians Terrance & Phillip, they are pronounced “corrupted”, and their parents pressure the United States to wage war against Canada.
Music:
Avril Levigne http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avril_Lavigne
Men Without Hats http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Men_Without_Hats
But don’t listen to them while driving - you might be overcome with the urge to veer into oncoming traffic just to make the noise stop

A friend of mine recently acquired a race entry and asked me if I knew anyone with an extra bed or two in Penticton.
Please email me at scott.michalik at google dot com and I’ll pass along his information.
Thanks

Join us Saturday, June 21 and Sunday, June 22 for the “MS 150.” We are amassing a large group of endurance athletes to ride 100 miles on Saturday and 75 miles on Sunday (shorter route options available if those distances aren’t in your plan that weekend). We will have a lot of fun and get in our workouts while raising money for a good cause. A mad game of flippy cup with this years headline sponsor, Goose Island, is already brewing for the overnight at NIU!!!
If you are afraid that the flat course isn’t good preparation for IM Canada - - no worries. We will be throwing in some threshold efforts and a transition run at NIU. If you still feel you didn’t get enough of a workout, you can prove it by doing a keg stand for everyone else
Registration is currently $40 if you join the team and this goes toward your suggested $300 fund-raising minimum - - you have until 9/30/08 to meet the minimum goal and in the past we have found this to be fairly easy to do with so much time allotted to do it in. When you register, make sure you join our team: “140.6ers against MS.”
A little background: Approximately 400,000 people nationwide, including 20,000 here in Illinois, live with the devastating effects of multiple sclerosis - a chronic, progressive, and often disabling disease of the central nervous system. Our goal is to raise $2 million (our teams goal is not quite that lofty, don’t be intimidated!), to support men and women statewide who battle MS and to help find the cause and cure.
Register to ride and be sure to link your page to ours and be a part of our team effort!!!

I was recently thinking about how exactly to get to IMCA, with a bike, and 50 of my closest Team Magellan friends … and it dawned on me that we should charter a flight. How perfect would that be - no worrying about the lines at OHare, no issues with shipping your bike or big-airlines throwing the bike box around, land IN Penticton (or wherever we want).
Unfortunately, I’ve never done this before, and don’t even know where to start. Does anybody know a pilot? Is anybody a pilot? Does Magellan have a plane that we could borrow? Is this cost-effective?
Anybody have any thoughts?
