Gearing up for IM Canada

Camper, ALEX SLOCUM, posed a question to the Multisports coaches:  “Have any recommendations for the gearing for IM Canada?  I have 52/38 in the front and 11 - 21 at the back?”

ROCH FREY’s response: “You will need at least a 23 rear cog but a 25 will be better.  The best overall combo would be a 53 front large chain ring and 38 small and then a 11 or 12/25 cog set in the back. Better to have that extra gear on the climbs and one more tooth on the front chain-ring.”

For fun, check out Alex’s training ride—“when I get to the mountain at the end (1500 foot climb in 3 miles)  http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=2038413   I ride out to Winslow park and then do 2 loops up and down (it takes 35 minutes to do the climb and 25 minutes to go down because steep windy and total shiza road condtion!)  Sound like a good weekly ride for IM BC training?  Feedback appreciated.”  Alex

Bike Fit Weekend: Update

David had previously posted about the bike fitting with Matt Hoffmann this weekend, but I wanted to get the word out  one more time.
All participants will need to fill out fit to be fit form (downloadable here: Bike Fit Form) and bring it to their fitting.  Matt will be bringing in Profile Design products for purchase.  Also, this event is not just for Team Magellan participants.  If you have a friend or family member that would like to join in, please forward this information (and the bike fit form) to them and have them respond to Bethany at bjohnson@magellandevelopment.com ASAP.

Even if you have previously given your availibility to David Carlins, I need you to email Bethany at bjohnson@magellandevelopment.com today with your requested time slot.

There are 3 choices for time slots:

Friday evening we will have a dinner reservation in downtown Chicago.  This will be begin at around 5:30.   Matt prefers to have as many interested people come to this event.  So, if you can make it to this event, please join us.  Details should follow later today on the exact location of the dinner.

Saturday, Matt will be fitting athletes at David Carlins’ home in Glencoe, IL .  He will have availabilty all day, however it would be beneficial to give us your estimated time of arrival so that we can put together a schedule that works for Mr. Hoffmann.

Sunday, Matt will be available to perform fittings at David’s house once again, but only between the hours of 1 pm and 4pm.
The cost for the bike fitting will be between $125 to $175 depending on how many people participate.

Once again, please email Bethany ASAP  with your requested time slot, and any information regarding friends/family that would like a bike fitting.
